Selling cards on TikTok Shop means almost the whole transaction happens on someone else's screen. The video, the pinned product card, the checkout, the shipping label and the message thread belong to the platform. If you run Fulfilled by TikTok, the parcel is theirs too: their carton, their tape, their packing slip, their name on the doorstep.
What arrives that is actually yours is the card, the holder it sits in, and whatever you put on that holder before it left your bench. That short list is the whole reason to be deliberate about the bench.
What TikTok Shop publishes about card packaging
TikTok Shop's published packaging expectations for trading cards are short, and the version in Seller Center is the one that counts — they revise it, so read the live page yourself before you buy a case of mailers. As published, it comes down to three things.
- A rigid outer. A rigid mailer or a small box, not a paper envelope that folds in a sorter.
- No loose cards. Every card in a sleeve and then a rigid holder — top loader, semi-rigid or one-touch — so nothing slides or flexes inside the parcel.
- Not a polybag on its own. A bag is a bag. It is not the rigid layer, and a card shipped in one alone is the classic bent-corner claim.
Read together they describe structure, not presentation. Nothing says what your packaging looks like or whose name is on it — and TikTok fills that gap with their own branding by default.
Fulfilled by TikTok ships in TikTok's box
Under Fulfilled by TikTok you send inventory into their warehouse in bulk and they pick, pack and ship each order. At the buyer's door that means:
- The outer carton is TikTok's, branded as TikTok's.
- The packing slip is theirs, in their layout.
- Anything you did not attach to the unit does not travel. Thank-you cards and coupon slips tossed loose into a case arrive at a warehouse, not at a buyer.
So every unit has to leave your bench already finished: sleeve, holder, and anything of yours you want the buyer to see. A die-cut foil label on the holder is one of the few things of yours that survives the trip, because it is physically part of the unit rather than something a picker has to remember. The same holds, less dramatically, when you ship yourself — TikTok's label is on the outside, so the holder is where your name gets read.
The packing bench, start to finish
One pass per unit, same order every time.
- Sleeve the card. Penny sleeve first, then the holder. The seal never touches the card and never goes on a penny sleeve alone.
- Holder. Top loader or semi-rigid for raw singles, one-touch for hits you priced like hits. Slabs skip to the mailer stage.
- Seal the holder. One label on the plastic, same spot every time — low front corner clear of the card on a top loader, or a banner layout across the bottom of a one-touch. Burnish it for twenty seconds; a half-stuck edge lifts in a warehouse tote. The top loader guide and the one-touch guide have the measurements, and the format hub covers the rest.
- Photograph it. One tight shot where the number is legible, one wider shot with the whole unit in frame. Four seconds, and the entire point of the number.
- Log it. Number against the listing, the order or — for Fulfilled by TikTok — the inbound shipment and the SKU.
- Outer. Team bag if you use one, then the rigid mailer or box, with the void filled so nothing travels inside the parcel.
- Label and hand off. TikTok's label, on a face clear of anything photographed earlier.
For inbound Fulfilled by TikTok cases, steps 3 to 5 happen before the case is closed, because you will never see that unit again.
What goes on the bench
- Penny sleeves and rigid holders in the sizes you sell, thick loaders included
- Team bags, if you bag before the mailer
- Rigid mailers and small corrugated boxes; no paper envelopes near the bench
- Kraft tape and a bone folder for burnishing
- A scale and a label printer
- Numbered seals, in a run long enough that you never ration them
Numbering that still means something a month later
The number is the working part. Set a prefix and a start number on the builder and the run prints in sequence: within one order, no two seals share a number. Pick a scheme that matches how you sell.
- Straight sequence for a general store. One run, one prefix, counting up.
- Batch code plus number for drops and live sessions, so a unit's number tells you which stream it came off.
- Duo for a paired record: two numbered halves on one label you cut apart, one half on the holder and one half stapled to the pick sheet or inbound manifest.
Then use it. A buyer messages about a corner and the number takes you to a dated photo of that exact unit. The honest version of the benefit is narrow: it helps document what was shipped, and it helps deter swaps and return fraud in the ordinary way that a numbered, photographed unit is more annoying to argue with than an unnumbered one.
The optional QR can point at a page you choose or at the seal record — a page showing the design, the number and the date it was logged. It says nothing about the card. Buyers can look up a number, and your run lives in My Seals.
What a seal will not do
Plainly, once, so no listing of yours ever overstates it:
- It can be peeled off and a replacement stuck down. It is a printed holographic foil label with adhesive. An intact seal is not evidence of anything on its own.
- It says nothing about the card. Not the grade, not the print run, not whether the card in the holder is the card in the photo. The number refers to the label.
- It has no standing with any marketplace or grading company. TikTok Shop, eBay, Whatnot and the graders run their own processes on their own rules, and none of those rules mention seals.
- It does not decide a return. A logged number and a dated photo make what you hand over specific rather than general. What anyone does with that is their call.
If you need a seal to do more than that, it is the wrong purchase.
What a run costs
Standard seals are 1.77 x 0.75 in (44.96 x 19.05 mm), packs of twelve at $6.00. The smallest order is 60 seals — $30.00, or 50c each. The rate steps down as the run grows: 45c at 120, 40c at 600, 36c at 1,200, 33c at 2,400 and 30c at 4,200. Self-serve tops out at 10,008 seals; anything larger is quoted. Two foils, Shattered Prism and Aurora.
Large seals are 2.5 x 1 in (63.5 x 25.4 mm), $9.00 per pack of twelve. The minimum is 60 seals at $45.00 — 75c each — then 10% off at 120, 20% at 600, 30% at 1,200 and 40% at 4,200, which works out to 45c each. Large is the size for slab and one-touch banners, where the standard label looks undersized against the case.
To size a run, count units rather than orders. A month of 150 units is 156 seals once you round up to whole packs and allow for a few set down crooked, which puts you on the 120 rung. If you sell slabs too, custom grading stickers run packs of twelve at $6.00 — 50c each, down to 40c at 600 and up. Custom collector display sticker. Not affiliated with or certified by any third-party grading company.
Wording you can put in the listing
Keep the claim inside what the product is:
Every unit ships with a numbered Serial Seal on the holder. The number is logged and photographed before shipping, and I keep that record for the length of the return window.
That describes the number, the photo and the log — nothing more. Do not tell buyers it affects a TikTok Shop case, because it does not.
Frequently asked questions
Does TikTok Shop require a seal on the card?
No. The published packaging expectations are about structure — a rigid outer, a rigid holder, no loose cards, not a polybag alone. Nothing in them mentions branded or numbered labels, and TikTok gives a seal no standing in any process. The seal is your addition to a bench that already meets the requirements.
Where does the seal go — the card, the holder, or the mailer?
The holder. It is a die-cut foil label for the plastic of a holder, case, bag or box: never on the card, never on a penny sleeve alone, never on factory-sealed wax, never on a holder heading to a grading company. A mailer works too, but under Fulfilled by TikTok the mailer is TikTok's. The shipping package guide covers orders you ship yourself.
Will a numbered seal help me in a TikTok Shop dispute?
It decides nothing. TikTok runs its own process on its own rules and a seal is not part of them. What you have is a dated photo of a specific unit with a number in frame, matched to a number logged against that order before it shipped — specific instead of general. Whether specific counts in a given case is the platform's call.
Can I include an insert or business card with Fulfilled by TikTok?
Treat the unit as the only thing that travels. Loose material in an inbound case stays at the warehouse, and TikTok packs the outbound parcel in their own materials. Anything of yours has to be on the unit before the case is taped — in practice, the holder.
How many seals should a new TikTok Shop seller start with?
The 60-seal minimum, $30.00, run through a real week first. That is enough to check the artwork on actual foil, settle on one placement, and find out whether the logging step survives a busy shipping day. Sellers who keep the habit reorder at 120 or 600.
Set your artwork, prefix and start number on the builder, or go straight to Large if you mostly ship slabs and one-touches. For the format-by-format version, start with toploader seals or the return-fraud page, which walks through what the log looks like when a buyer disputes what arrived.
